Expecting a baby can be exciting, confusing, scary and a time of joy. The Baby Moon is here to help you navigate these months of pregnancy and the first months of parenthood. You will meet with other couples who are in a similar situation to yourself and you will find a safe to place to ask and have questions answered, to discuss and to share and to find solutions together.

Class Topics:

  • Week 1: pregnancy

  • Week 2: labour & birth

  • Week 3: breastfeeding - session for women only

  • Week 4: fatherhood & becoming a mother

  • Week 5: caring for your new baby

  • Week 6: course overview

Week 1: Pregnancy
Pregnancy care, exercise and relaxation techniques

Week 2: Labour & Birth
This will include: what is labour? How does labour work? The stages of labour and discussion of different techniques for managing discomfort.  What happens when things don't go to plan.

Week 3: Breastfeeding
Including the how and why of breastfeeding and dealing with any difficulties.

Week 4: Fatherhood and Becoming a Mother
This week we look at helping your partner through the delivery and afterwards and how you can support breastfeeding. How your relationship might change once the baby has arrived. Becoming a mother: your new role.

Week 5: Caring for your new baby
Arriving home with your new baby can be daunting. This session looks at some of the practicalities of coping with and enjoying the challenges of the first weeks.

Week 6: Course Overview
This is your chance to re-cap on all the topics covered and ask any unanswered questions. You can also use this time to be sure you have the other course members details and book the reunion date into your diary.

  • Research shows that women who attend antenatal classes cope better with labour and birth. Both you and your partner will be more confident and in control.

  • You'll be able to make informed choices about your care.

  • You'll have the opportunity to meet like minded people and form an invaluable support network.

  • Our classes are small (maximum of 8 pairs), relaxed and informal, giving you plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
